Five Balkan Pillars (Scenic reading)

Dejan Dukovski (1969) was born in Skopja. He graduated in dramaturgy and worked as a script editor in the Makedonian radio and television and as a pedagogue in the Skopja Theatre faculty in the cathedra of film and television script. He is an author of several dramatic texts, especially three dramas have been outstanding: Balkanot ne e mrtov ili magija edelvajs (Balkan is not dead or a magic edelweiss, 1992), Bure barut (A barrel of a powder, 1994), Mame mu ebam koj prv počna (Let go to the hell the bitch who has started it, 1996). Dukovski is also an author of a film script Svetlo sivo (1993) and together with a Serbian director Goran Paskaljević has adapted a drama A barrel of a power into a film script. In the year 2003 he was cooperating with a Macedonian director Mitrikjeski at a script for a film Kako loš son (As a bad dream), which starting from the Dukovski play Let go to the hell the bitch that has started it. His plays Balkan is not dead or a magic edelweiss and A barrel of a power were evaluated as the best dramatic texts at the Macedonian Theatre Festival of Vojdan Černodrinski, a play Let go to the hell the bitch who has started it won Grand Prix of the international theatre festival BITEF in Belgrade.

Milena Markovićová was born in 1974 in Serbian Zemun. The study of dramaturgy finishes with her diploma work Paviljoni, ili kuda idem, odakle dolazim i šta ima za večeru (Pavilions or where I am going, where I am coming from, and what it is going to be for dinner, she wrote it in the year 1997, the first stage in 2000). She is an author of dramas Šine (Rails, 2002) and Beli, beli svet (White, white World, 2003) on the leitmotifs of Gypsy fairytales from Kosovo and Metohija. She has published two books of poems. She loves Russian prose-writers, British dramatics and Rablais.
