Fresh Film Fest in Ponec theatre
7th annual of Fresh Film Fest is moving to Prague this year! In 5 days more than 150 films will be screened in competitive and non-competitive sections at 7 venues. This international festival is aimed at first features and student films. Fresh Film Fest 2010 will award four prizes in four competitive programmes, Fresh Generation, Main Competition, Theatre Optique and the new section Fresh Czech. Ponec theatre has become one of the festival venues and within the additional programme it will feature also one dance performance – The Cases of Dr. Touret (27. 8.). Teraza Ondrová - The Dancer of the Year – playing the part of Mrs. Vltavska on August 27th
The performance The Cases of Dr. Touret with the Dancer of the Year – Tereza Ondrová – will be presented on August 27th at 8 pm within the FRESH FILM FEST. A performance inspired by the book of a well-known neurologist Oliver Sacks The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat was created by the actor and mime Anička Polívková and the ensemble VerTeDance. Special prize CZK 90 for accredited visitors of the festival!

Jakub Xavier Baro, a singer, guitarist, percussionist and an artist. A student of a four-year degree program at INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL FOR HUMAN VOICE Ida Kelarova and a former member and a head of its international choir Apsora with whom he has performed throughout the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He has composed music for a theatrical dance project created by Anna POLÍVKOVÁ and VerTeDance "The Cases of Dr. Touret" in which he also plays. He calls his music "Gipsy NOISE and POP'n'CORN". His songs blend languages (Romany, Czech, English) and a variety of musical styles. At concerts, you can see him performing only with guitar in a group called IBYaLONE (a paraphrase of the first band IBULON). Furthermore, he performs in the eight-members group IBY & Chips EMPIRE. In 2008 he issued with the band IBULON a mini CD "Salute to Gipsyes". The next year a big album or original songs IBY & CH. E. is coming out. More info at www.myspace.com/ibysek

Hexen + Récitations / 13. + 14.6./ 8 pm
On June 13 and 14 audiences at the Ponec Theatre will see two evenings by the Slovak Debris Company and the Belgian Compagnie José Besprosvany. “Hexen, the Slovak piece, is full of relationships and loneliness. Usually in life they change into the unreal and the magical, but the usual complications here get a new interpretation,” say the creators about their performance. In the Belgian piece Récitations a dancer and a singer together examine the possibilities of contemporary dance, music and words. “They are like two heads on one body, co-dependent upon each other.” Together they create a new dimension of “body music” based on the soft and pleasurable sounds of French. Ningyo - the story of a mermaid / 16.6. / Ponec
On June 16 a guest from a traditional partner country of the Festival – Switzerland – will perform at the Ponec Theatre. The name of the piece by Nicole Seiler comes from the Japanese word Ningyo, which can mean either a toy doll or a mermaid. “Nicole Seiler, a well-known Swiss choreographer, relies on the dual nature of old legends, seeing mermaids as beautiful and dangerous, human and animal beings. The illusion of the sea as a place full of dreamy dancing pictures, lights and sounds gradually plays out,” added Brožová.

European Dance Laboratory no. 2
The festival program at the Ponec Theatre will conclude on June 20 and 21 with a second European dance lab offering four works: Tore by Dora Hoštová inspired by the bullfight as a ritual from the recent past, which nevertheless requires full concentration. The British Company Decalage was founded by hip hop artist Mickael Marso Riviere. His Appel inspired by capoeira, contemporary dance and b-boying is based on live interaction between two dancers and playing on the bansuri (flute) and the tabla. The dance duet Void Amongst Humans by Helena Arenbergerová and Jarek Cemerek leads audiences through many different atmospheres each of which reflects human feelings in a large anonymous world. The piece Ven by Spanish-Cuban company La Macana has received a number of awards, such as the audience and critic awards at the festival in Madrid.

Rejoice, be happy, come to HAPPY - on June 10th in Ponec Theatre
On June 10 it will be the turn of the already traditional European dance lab with Poland’s Happy. After working in the Czech Republic with independent dancers from NANOHACH, the well-known Nigel Charnock (formerly a member of the DV8 Physical Theatre) has selected nine Polish performers who under his guidance dance and sing stories of love, longing, vodka and death. DANCE FOR CHILDREN for the third time already
The prologue of the international festival of the contemporary TANEC PRAHA will be presented through the week of workshops and performances destined for children, but also adults called DANCE FOR CHILDREN. It will be held in the Prague theatres Ponec and Archa from 24th May to 1st June. „This year performances destined also for children have been plentiful, which is a good indication for spectators of all age groups,“ says Dana Nekardová, festival´s coordinator. The workshops like the public presentation of the all-year-round work of children from the selected Prague schools, in which the project Dance for Schools is being organized, will be the component part of the programme.

The choreography of Pál Frenák will open the TANEC PRAHA 2010 Festival
The opening on June 7 and 8 in Prague's Ponec Theatre will feature a vernissage of photographs from the history of the festival as well as the company of Pál Frenák, the leading Hungarian choreographer living between Paris and Budapest “The production Twins confronts the symbols and signs of the phenomenon of twins. Is each twin a unique person or are they parallel, identical beings? Who becomes the puppet and who becomes the master made of meat and bones?” said Alena Brožová, the manager of the Festival, about the performance. The offical announcement of the Audience Award and The Best Dancer Prize of the Czech Dance Platform Festival 2010 will be part of the evening. Reservation.

Dance of Canis Lupus / 18. 5. / 8 pm
A Belgian choreographer Thomas Steyaert who used to be a member of renowned dance company Ultima Vez will present in Ponec his Dance of Canis Lupus on Tuesday, May 18 at 8 pm. The choreographer interrupts a traditional theatre illusion and situates dancers (VerTeDance company) into a rather crude, realistic and technical space of the theatre. The secrecy of the piece consists in the fact that we do not know these three strangers and they do not know each other and neither the space around them. They slowly create their own world, that can be a bit ferocious...After the show the vernissage of the artistic pieces of Petr Povltavec will be held in the bar.
