Let's indulge in lack of freedom, if only for a while. The pleasure of confinement and predetermination, erasing all doubts. The situation where all that takes place despite the limited space is exceptional, fragile and precious.
Lack of freedom. Something we fear. The impossibility to take a decision. To leave when we want to leave, wherever we want to go with whomever we want to. To do whatever we want to. Seeing an immense ocean of possibilities that remain forbidden to us.
We are very well aware of what is lack of freedom. But do we know what freedom is? How to find inner peace within freedom? How come the possibility of unlimited choices paralyses our capacity to make a decision, to truly believe in something, to be truly impassioned? To reach a palpable goal that is standing right in front of our eyes in the haze.
The fatigue arising from the incessant search for the goal.
The piece is a lose sequel to the project Learned Helplessness, a site-specific created in the basement of the ORCO building in Prague.
At the festival CZECH DANCE PLATFORM 2014 CORRECTION won the Dance Piece of the Year Award and Katarína Ďuricová won the Light Design Award for it. Three of the seven dancers were nominated for Dancer of the Year Award. The jury also singled out Clarinet Factory for honourable mention and CORRECTION came in second place in the Audience Award voting.
Review:„Each detail, each tiny gag provokes a reaction from the public. This is conceptual arts in an exceptionally communicative form... The experimental torture Jiří Havelka has put the seven dancers through is coherent with trends that currently thrive on European scenes."
