“I live in a world where there are no animals – I miss their rules.”
Mah hunt is a project created by two dancers from the ensemble DOT504, Lenka Vágnerová and Pavel Mašek. The duet shows two people who decided to experience hunting. What will it be like? All depends on what rules will be set. The performance received the Audience Award at the Czech Dance Platform Festival 2011 and Lenka Vágnerová was for her performance nominated for Thále Prize.
“The movement inventiveness of the duet, the risky physical configurations and the magical concentration – all of that is breathtaking... Lenka Vágnerová and Pavel Mašek are firmly in the saddle of choreography...” Ninga Vangeli, Mladá Fronta Dnes, 7. 9. 2010
“A piece made of original elements and settings. As for the latter, the dancers from DOT504 created them on their own: a fact resulting in a total synergy between the dancers and the scene.” Veronika Steffanová, Studentpoint, 6. 9. 2010
“The whole of the piece is made of short visions in which the performers offer us a tender shadow play, wild music, tranquilizing as well as enigmatic sounds of the jungle and last but not least a perfectly synchronized motion meticulously shaded with flawless light design. All that together sets up a lyrical atmosphere which turns into a dramatic one due to repeating scenes of fight in which one of the performers is a hunter and the other one is hunting: the two performers regularly swap the two roles.” Veronika Štefanová, Blog Divadelních novin, 8. 9. 2010
“Mah Hunt is a perfectly crafted piece, a noteworthy because compact stage form... Mah Hunt is a piece I feel like seeing at least once more because there are things to discover.” Jana Bohutínská, A2, 30. 9. 2010
“The piece is dynamic, witty, and humorous. All that wouldn´t have sufficed though if the performers themselves weren´t involved enough, which they are... Mah Hunt has got everything one expects from a good dance piece: great performance on the part of the dancers, technical precision, devotion, energy, rhythm, and an interesting idea which protects one from leaving the theatre ´empty´.” Anna Konigsmarková, Metropolis, 30. 9. 2010
“A playful minimalist dance joke, freezing at certain moments, but mostly charming and witty. Funny enough to entertain children, decent enough not to scandalize their parents. At Ponec, the group DOT504 have once again proven that they deserve their reputation.” Vojtěch Varyš, Týden.cz, 23. 10. 2010
"Throughout Mah Hunt, Dot 504 expose the fragile line between sensual intimacy and erotic violence: in a world without animals, the hunt becomes a game of mutual seduction and destruction. Ravishing, disorientating, imaginative, captivating, Mah Hunt reflects the complexities of human relationships and the shadow cast by our evolutionary heritage." The Skinny, 12. 8. 2011, Gareth K.
