Václav Kuneš
After graduating from the Dance Conservatory in Prague in 1993 he joined the junior company of Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT 2). From 1998 to 2004 he was a member of Nederlands Dans Theater 1 where he worked under the tuition of Jiří Kylián. He has co-worked with a number of world leading choreographers (O. Naharin, H. van Manen, W. Forsythe, P. Lightfoot, M. Ek, J. Inger, etc.). Since 2004, the year that marks the beginning of Václav´s career as a free-lancer, he has co-operated, among others, with the Japanese choreographer S. Teshigawara, with M. Schumacher and C. Bos-Kroese (a feature choreography Trilogy and a participation at Holland Dance Festival 2005, 2007 and 2009). As a choreographer Václav has created at Laterna magika, NDT 2, Copenhagen International Ballet, Korzo theatre or Station Zuid in the Netherlands. In 2010, he created Temporary Condition for the ensemble Ballet de l’Opera National de Bordeaux. In the same year, he also presented his choreography Small Hour at Dominic Walsh Dance Theatre in Houston, Texas, and at Swedish Skanes Danstheater. He is currently one of the two leading personalities (the other being Nataša Novotná) of the company 420PEOPLE, also creating the company’s choreographies (REEN, Affordance, Golden Crock, Small Hour, etc.).
